Wynne Construction has been awarded the contract to demolish the former Prestatyn library building on Nant Hall Road to create a new commercial space on the ground floor and accessible and adaptable one-bedroom apartments on the upper storeys. The social rented apartments will be provided to people over the age of 55.
The Denbighshire Housing development, which has been named “Llys LlÊn” to celebrate the site’s previous use as a library, will provide energy-efficient apartments designed for older persons including those with limited mobility. Energy in the apartments will be generated by ground source heat pumps and solar panels on the roof to create improved energy efficient living for future residents.
Off street parking will be provided at the back of the site, with vehicular access gained from the existing Llys Bodnant development, via Glyn Avenue. Car parking provision for 18 no vehicles would be provided at the rear of the buildings towards the South-East end of the site.
The project started in March 2022 and is due for completion in Spring 2023.
