Wynne Construction was appointed by Gwynedd County Council to build the new area school Ysgol Bro Dysynni (named Ysgol Craig Y Deryn) in Llanegryn. The £5.4m new primary school project is a state-of-the-art modern educational facility designed to give the young people of the area the best possible start in life.

Ysgol Craig y Deryn offers four classrooms with additional practical teaching areas for each room and an additional suite for the local Cylch Meithryn, as well as practical rooms for art and food science and a large library and IT room. A new access to the school was provided through widening of the road into Llanegryn.

Throughout the project regular monitoring was conducted of site activities in order to reduce the impact on the environment. The water consumption, fuel consumption and electricity usage were all monitored and logged on a weekly basis. As in all our projects, 75% of materials for Ysgol Bro Dysynni, were sourced from within a 30 mile radius, ensuring the delivery of materials to site is kept to a minimum, reducing the carbon emissions of deliveries and retaining the project spend within the surrounding community. Noise is also monitored on a daily basis to ensure that loud activities are kept to a minimum in order to avoid impact on the surrounding envionrment and local community.

The school is constructed to BREEAM Excellent standards with Key Environmental Featuresto include photovoltaic panels, BIOMASS heating systems, solar hot water, low water demand sanitary installations, rainwater harvesting and sedum green roofing system.
