Wynne Construction has been appointed by Wrexham County Borough Council to carry out the refurbishment and extension works at Ysgol Yr Hafod in Johnstown.
The extension will integrate the old schoolhouse as well as create three new classrooms and a reception/nursery in order to join together the infant and junior schools, which are currently located on two different sites. The refurbishment includes a new main entrance and administration hub, a new early years foundation class base, a new staff car park, and a multi-use games area.
The project is funded by the Welsh Government's Sustainable Communities for Learning programme (formerly 21st Century Schools).
Work commenced on site in April 2022 and is due for completion in April 2023.
