Members of the public and tradespeople are invited to an open event which will provide information and updates on a major development in Wrexham town centre - as well as the chance to have their say on the name of the new facility.
An information event will be held at the Guildhall, Wrexham, from 3.30pm until 7.00pm on Monday, July 3 to give attendees an opportunity to find out more about the work being done at the Oriel Wrecsam People's Market on Chester Street.
Contractors Wynne Construction, who are carrying out the revamping of the Peoples Market, are looking to connect with local businesses and self-employed traders who are interested in working on the ongoing refurbishment work.
The work, which began in January this year, will transform the People's Market into a multi-million pound facility incorporating, shops and market stalls, theatre and exhibition space.
The new facility is due to open in the spring of 2018. The open event will enable everyone in the area to come along and view the plans, chat to the team, meet the contractors and find out what will be happening over the coming months and once the centre is opened.
Additionally, the shortlisted names for the centre will be announced and attendees will have the opportunity to be the first to see the proposals and to vote for their favourite.
The public will then be consulted on which name they prefer via social media, websites, events and the press, with the name picked to be announced in September.
Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships Public Protection and Community Safety, said: "I encourage anyone who might have an interest in the OW Peoples Market project to attend this event - particularly self-employed tradespeople in the Wrexham area, who may be able to add their skills and expertise to this project as work progresses.
"We are especially keen to see local businesses benefit from this investment, so it's vital that as many trades businesses as possible attend. Members of the public are also welcome to come along to this event, as they will have the opportunity to see what's been happening on-site through the information provided by representatives."
The project is supported by funding from the Arts Council for Wales, the Welsh Government's Vibrant and Viable Places and Wrexham County Borough Council.
