St David's Hospice

02-Apr-2012

St David's Hospice Wynne Construction has been awarded the latest development and refurbishment project by St David's Hospice of Llandudno. Funded through the Hospice's Helping Hands appeal, this project involves improving accommodation and facilities for the relatives, patients, visitors and staff to the hospice.

Work began in February and involves the remodelling and refurbishment of the existing hospice with a new extension and the upgrading of the existing facilities to provide a total of fourteen single occupancy bedrooms. The project also includes enhancing the education and training facilities by creating a versatile open-plan space.

Alun Davies, Chief Executive, St David's Hospice comments: "Throughout the tendering process Wynne Construction clearly showed that their professional approach to undertaking the development fully met with the requirements of the Hospice, in being able to maintain services with minimal disruption to Patient Care. We were delighted that they also submitted the most competitive quotation. Since the start of the contract Wynne's have certainly lived up to all expectations".

Chris Wynne, Managing Director of Wynne Construction said, "As an established firm in North Wales we are pleased to have been awarded this project for St David's. With proven experience in this field, we are fully equipped to deliver the project to a high standard, thereby enabling St David's to provide their patients with the best possible facilities and at the same time support to those closest to the patients. The project will also enable us to offer employment to a number of skilled workers in the area".

Mindful of the special environment in which they are working Wynne Construction ensures that there is close co-operation between the site management team, the hospice and the local community so as to enable the hospice to function on a day-to-day basis without any disruption and to ensure the complete safety of the public.

The project is due for completion in November 2012.
