20-Nov-2014

Meet the Buyer Event - Coleg Cambria Meet the Buyer Event - 4th December 2014 from 2pm to 7.30pm at the Conference Centre, Coleg Cambria, Deeside, CH5 4BR.

Leading construction companies Wynne Construction and Galliford Try are looking to connect with local businesses to assist in the construction of two projects in Flintshire as part of the Welsh Government's £200m Schools and Public Buildings Contractor Framework for North Wales.

The Framework is a joint project funded by the Welsh Government's Department for Education and Skills, led by Denbighshire County Council on behalf of the six North Wales local authorities.

As part of their commitment to the region, the two companies are working collaboratively to boost local economies across the region and are inviting local sub-contractors to register their interest in becoming part of their supply chain in conjunction with Flintshire County Council, at a Meet the Buyer event on Thursday 4 December, 2pm-7:30pm in the Conference Centre, Coleg Cambria at the Deeside campus.

Councillor Chris Bithell, Flintshire County Council's Cabinet member for Education said: "The two companies will be building two flagship learning projects in the county - Galliford Try are the contractors for the new Holywell Learning Campus and Wynne Construction are building the Post 16 Hub at Coleg Cambria. We hope local businesses will now take the opportunity to get involved and attend this event"

These schemes form part of Flintshire's planned investment in their schools under Welsh Government's 21st Century Schools and Education Programme. This is a £1.4 billion investment programme that will invest in over 150 schools and colleges across Wales over the next five years.

Galliford Try North Managing Director Bob Merriman said: "Galliford Try is always looking to be a productive partner with our supply chain, creating achievable and sustainable value through our 'Recycle the local pound' initiative. Projects like the Schools and Public Buildings Contractor Framework allow us to work with and support local businesses, which we believe is extremely important to maintain a healthy and robust construction industry."

Chris Wynne, Managing Director, Wynne Construction: "As a reputable contractor in North Wales, we are totally committed to supporting the local businesses through the investment of the Contractor Framework and are keen to engage with local companies in readiness for the start of forthcoming projects, including this first project for the new Post 16 Hub at Coleg Cambria, Deeside. The event will provide opportunities for a discussion with our commercial team which should help local companies understand what we are looking for and we encourage new and existing suppliers to attend."

Local businesses are invited to attend from 2pm to 7.30pm to meet staff from Galliford Try and Wynne Construction to discuss future opportunities and the procurement processes.
