Wynne Construction has secured a contract to deliver up to 50 new homes across three separate sites in Bargoed.
We have been appointed by Caerphilly County Borough Council (Caerphilly Homes) as design and build main contractor for the Park Estate development, which will provide new homes for social rent.
Unlike a traditional single-site development, the scheme will be delivered across three locations within the estate at Heol Coedcae, Western Drive and Park Drive, creating a number of logistical and access considerations for the project team.
Wynne is now leading the technical design stage, working with the wider project team and supply chain ahead of construction starting in spring 2027.
Plans comprise 11 houses, 7 bungalows and 32 walk-up apartments, providing a mix of homes to meet different needs within the local community.
The homes have been designed to meet Welsh Government quality standards, with flexibility built into their design so properties can be adapted as residents’ needs change in the future.
Andy Garner, pre-construction director at Wynne Construction, said: “We’re pleased to have been appointed to deliver this important housing development for Caerphilly Homes.
“The three-site nature of the scheme makes it slightly different to a traditional housing development and brings its own considerations around logistics, access, and programming.
“Our focus now is on using our design and construction experience to develop the technical detail, work closely with the project team and supply chain, and make sure we have a robust delivery plan in place before work starts on site.
“We’re also looking at how modern methods of construction could help us improve efficiency during the build and support the overall programme.
“Most importantly, the development will provide much-needed, high-quality homes for people in the local area, including a mix of properties that can meet different needs now and in the future.”
The three plots each have their own characteristics, including tight access at the Heol Coedcae site, which is surrounded by existing homes.
Wynne will draw on its experience of delivering housing developments across Wales to manage the programme and coordinate construction across the three locations.
The project is also expected to create employment and training opportunities, with Wynne looking to recruit locally for site roles as well as deliver social value activity during construction.
Cllr Shayne Cook, Caerphilly Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for housing, said: “Everyone should be able to access a safe, secure, high-quality affordable home. But as the national housing crisis continues the demand for all types of homes is growing.
“The new homes in Bargoed will give more people the opportunity to find a home that meets their needs and provide a firm foundation for local families.”
