Wynne Construction has won a £5.5m contract from Conwy County Borough Council, to build a new disability respite centre on the North Wales coast. The new build, which includes a complex care day centre, alongside a café, shop and support facilities is situated at Bron y Nant, Dinerth Road, Colwyn Bay.
The respite facility will provide five fully furnished apartments, communal space for those with disability support needs and accommodation for support staff.
Once the lower portion of the site by the Bryn Euryn Nurseries is completed, there will also be a café, shop and plant selling area with access points to the cemetery and nurseries integrated in.
Chris Wynne, managing director at Wynne Construction said: “We are really pleased to have been selected by Conwy County Borough Council to deliver the much-needed disability respite centre. In addition, we are excited to be able to continue to develop what is already an excellent working relationship with the council. As with all of our projects, we will look to create an enduring legacy for the community by providing opportunities for training and employment through the supply chain locally, as well as engaging with education to showcase the variety of careers available in construction. We look forward to getting underway on-site soon.”
Work is set to start later this month and is expected to complete in June 2022.
