Wynne Construction recognised at UK Constructing Excellence Awards

Wynne Construction’s Glasdir schools project was shortlisted in the Offsite category at the Constructing Excellence (CE) National Awards, held recently in London, which brings together the best of the construction sector across the UK.

Our use of structural insulated panels (SIPs) to save time and money for client Denbighshire County Council secured the nomination after taking home the award at the Constructing Excellence Wales (CEW) 2019 awards earlier this year.

The lightweight, insulated timber panels, manufactured in a specialist plant, reduced costs by more than £200,000 and helped complete the project more than four months ahead of schedule.

In addition, Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology was utilised to create a detailed digital model of the school prior to construction to avoid any design-related delays during the build. The building, which boasts state-of-the-art educational facilities, houses primary schools Ysgol Pen Barras and Rhos Street School, and opened in April 2018.

The Glasdir project also won Best Use of SIPs at the 2018 Structural Timber Awards.
