Wynne’s construction work gains top business magazine recognition

A leading Welsh business publication has shone a spotlight on the construction industry, with Wynne Construction’s foundations for success a key component.

Wales Business Insider has taken a deep dive into the sector to highlight the good work being carried out by companies to overcome challenges and prepare for the future.

Wynne Construction’s five-year strategic plan as well as its focus on investing in its workforce was featured, with managing director Chris Wynne also sharing how he ensures financial stability and where the commitment to carbon reduction comes in.

The Denbighshire-based contractor is working on new build and refurbishment projects in sectors including healthcare, retail, leisure, commercial, and education.

Multi-million-pound schemes include Sunnyside Wellness Village in Bridgend, Haverfordia House apartments and reablement centre in Haverfordwest, and a new leisure centre in Newport.

It’s also building Ferndale’s Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Llyn-Y-Forwyn, the Enterprise, Engineering, and Optics Centre (EEOC) for Wrexham University, and Pontllanfraith Centre for vulnerable learners in Caerphilly.

Chris Wynne said: “Over the next five years, our vision is to drive sustainable growth through a focused strategy that emphasises strategic partnerships, strong client relationships, and expansion into new markets across Wales, the west of England, and the Midlands.

“By forming more strategic alliances and securing partnerships, we aim to further our model of negotiated contracts, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes for both clients and the company.”

Asked how he ensures the company is financially stable, Chris continued: “Our business is built on a foundation of organic, measured growth, which has enabled us to create a stable financial model that supports our long-term vision.

“By strategically investing and carefully selecting low-risk projects, we ensure sustainable development that aligns with our core values of stability and responsibility.

“Our growth is underpinned by a strong balance sheet, with no borrowings, allowing us to maintain financial independence and resilience.”

Wynne aims to reduce its carbon footprint through innovation, modern methods of construction, and integrating sustainable practices into the company’s work.

It has adopted photovoltaic cells and battery storage systems to cuts its energy consumption, whilst closer to home, head office has been extended to accommodate future growth.

Chris said: “These technologies are not only incorporated into our office spaces but are also integrated into the design of new building facades, contributing to energy efficiency and a reduced environmental impact.”
