CEW Awards - Chris Wynne

Managing director Chris Wynne’s dedication to driving Wynne Construction to new heights has been honoured by established industry body Constructing Excellence Wales (CEW).

Chris has helped turn the firm’s vision into reality since joining the business in 1984, with his endeavours securing him the esteemed Constructing Excellence Wales (CEW) lifetime achievement accolade.

He was presented the award by Richard Wilson, deputy director at the Welsh Government.

Continuing his father and grandfather’s passion for construction, the company has taken on several major multi-million-pound schemes, including the Enterprise, Engineering, and Optics Centre (EEOC) for Wrexham University, Sunnyside Wellness Village in Bridgend, and the design and build of the Hafod building on Coleg Cambria’s Yale campus.

His development of social value initiatives through the Wynne Futures Foundation and strategic approach to sustainable growth has seen the firm win contracts worth £55 million in South Wales alone.

Chris has also overseen the strengthening of Wynne’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) credentials, positioning it as one of the first construction companies in the UK to secure ISO 19650-2:2018.

In addition, Wynne Construction has secured multiple awards and honours, most recently being ranked as the fastest growing family firm in Wales by Wales Business Insider.

Speaking about his achievements, Chris, who was also shortlisted for the Institute of Directors (IoD) Wales medium and large business director of the year award, said: “I’m honoured to have received such recognition from two established industry bodies for my work here at Wynne Construction.

“From our beginnings as C. Wynne & Sons Limited in 1926 to our current position, it’s been a privilege to follow in the footsteps of my father and grandfather to further distinguish our family firm as one of Wales most trustworthy construction companies.

“As is always the case, without the buy-in and commitment of the entire team, our partnership approach with clients, and a strong supply chain, our successes would not be possible.

“I’m very proud of the people we have here at Wynne and remain determined to invest in them.

“With our clear five-year growth plan, I firmly believe we will continue to go from strength to strength, forging new relationships in our supply chain and giving back to the community where possible.

“We want to direct the business so that we not only consistently deliver exceptional health, safety, and environmental standards, but continue to deliver high-quality builds and play a crucial role in job creation in the sector.”
