Wynne Construction secures top spot in leading Welsh business publication

Wynne Construction has been named the fastest-growing family-owned firm in Wales by prominent media outlet Wales Business Insider.

Ranked first on the list of 50 companies, the Denbighshire-based contractor was lauded for growing its annual turnover to £90m, an increase of 40 per cent per year on average across its two most recent sets of accounts.

It was also noted for its recent £20m design and build contracts awarded by housing association Adra, which will provide nearly 100 affordable homes across Wrexham and Bodelwyddan.

Wynne Construction’s organic growth has seen the family firm secure key schemes across Wales and the north west of England, including Sunnyside Wellness Village in Bridgend, Haverfordia House apartments and reablement centre in Haverfordwest, and a new leisure centre in Newport.

It’s also building the Enterprise, Engineering, and Optics Centre (EEOC) for Wrexham University, Pontllanfraith Centre for vulnerable learners in Caerphilly, and a new school on Wrexham Road in Chester as well as constructing two new orthopaedic theatres and refurbishing existing infrastructure at Llandudno General Hospital.

Managing director Chris Wynne, who was presented with the lifetime achievement award at the 2025 Constructing Excellence Wales (CEW) Awards, said: “We are extremely proud of our success as a family-owned indigenous Welsh construction firm.

“Without the joint effort of the whole team, we wouldn’t have achieved such exponential growth, so I’m thankful to everyone at Wynne Construction as well as our clients and supply chain for their commitment.

“We aim to continue our progress by maximising opportunities to deliver quality builds across Wales and the north west of England all whilst engaging with local suppliers, educational institutions, and community groups to undertake relevant social value initiatives.

“Reaching net zero in alignment with the Welsh government’s net zero by 2050 goal is also at the forefront of our operations, and we will continue to implement sustainable building practices wherever possible.”

The new ranking follows the company’s position of 22nd on the Wales list by the UK Fast Growth Index for 2024, a programme that spotlights the fastest-growing companies across the UK.
