Wynne Construction’s dedication to best practice on their sites has been rewarded with a hat-trick of Bronze Awards from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS).
The Denbighshire-based construction firm’s activity on multi-million-pound projects Ysgol Cedewain in Newtown, GLLM’s Rhyl Engineering Centre, and Ysgol Yr Hafod, in Johnstown, Wrexham were scored as ‘excellent’ during site monitoring audits undertaken by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
The CCS aims to raise standards in the construction industry by ensuring that contractors are building responsibly with consideration for the environment, community, and workforce.
Each site is assessed through an independent and rigorous monitoring process and scored on each section with a maximum overall total of 45 marks.
The projects awarded a Bronze Award included:
- The £21m Additional Learning Needs facility at Ysgol Cedewain in Newtown for Powys County Council
- The new £12m engineering and renewable technologies centre at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s Rhyl campus
- The £4.5m refurbishment and extension scheme at Ysgol Yr Hafod, Johnstown for Wrexham County Borough Council
Graham Dickson, contracts manager for Wynne Construction, said: “We have always strived to be a considerate constructor, so to be recognised for our work with three bronze awards from the CCS is fantastic.
“We put a huge focus on bringing benefits to the communities, workforce and environments where we are working, and this feedback gives us peace of mind that we are succeeding in our goals.
“This includes hosting site visits from school pupils, supporting apprentice opportunities and work placements, and donating excess wood materials to local charities such as Brighter Futures in Rhyl, it’s important that we are always adding value.
“Our workforce is always high on the agenda for Wynne Construction, highlighted by the recent signing of the Gambling Related Harms Workplace Charter and becoming a member of the Lighthouse Charity, supporting mental health.”
