Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth

Education Mid Wales
Value: £5m - £10m
Sustainability, BREEAM: Excellent, MMC, Net-Zero

Wynne Construction has been appointed by Ceredigion County Council to design and build a new extension for Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth, a Welsh-medium primary school situated in the town.

The new two-storey extension will replace current temporary mobile classrooms at the school to provide 10 new modern learning classrooms, with new hard play areas, cycle and scooter storage and external landscaping, designed to maximise benefits for wildlife.

The new building is to be designed to achieve Net Zero Carbon (in occupation) and to achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent.

To reduce embodied carbon the design makes use of a structural insulated panelled structure, and PVs will be employed providing on-site renewable energy source.

Work is due to commence Summer 2026 and to be completed by Autumn 2027.
