Wynne Construction has been appointed by Cyngor Gwynedd to develop the £8m new build Ysgol Treferthyr in Criccieth. The new build school will provide space for 150 pupils, an increase from the previous site’s capacity of 119, an early years unit, and an additional learning assessment unit. Funded by the Welsh Government through the Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme and Cyngor Gwynedd, the scheme is scheduled to finish by September 2024. Upon completion, pupils will move from the school in the centre of Criccieth to the new site, which sits along the A497 on the western approach to the town.

Initial works on site are currently underway, with our site team to build six classrooms, a hall, kitchen, and multipurpose room as part of the development.

As part of our commitment to social value, we have already worked with the school to highlight the historical significance of the site, bringing in pupils from Ysgol Treferthyr to examine artefacts found through a pre-planning survey and recently held a steel beam signing ceremony with the pupils and staff.
