Wynne Construction has helped convert dreams into reality by providing vital sponsorship for Mold Rugby Club under-16’s tour to Italy.

To ensure that the 28-strong playing group can all head abroad, the sponsorship will go towards travel expenses and new kit featuring the company’s logo.

The final tour will see the squad visit Treviso in February and continues a long-standing tradition that all U16 players sign-off from their junior playing years.

Alongside Wynne’s donation, Mold’s youngsters raised money for the trip by taking part in litter picking, selling raffle tickets and cakes, and manning stalls at Mold Food Festival.

Under-16s coach Lars Wiegand, one of around 70 support staff and family members set to cheer the team on, said: “The boys have been working hard to fundraise across 18 months, so I’m thankful to Wynne Construction for its generous donation.

“Having coached this group since they were four, and with my own son an active member, it’s been great to provide an opportunity for everyone to compete.

“Playing abroad gives us the chance to showcase Wales’ culture and heritage and, with eight Welsh speakers in the squad, I’m looking forward to hearing the team singing the country’s famous songs.”

Wynne Construction social value manager Natasha Pryce said: “Giving back to the local community is a focus of ours, so when Lars approached us for support, we were immediately on board.

“I’m glad to hear the difference our donation has made in making the team’s ambitions a reality and I hope the youngsters enjoy their final tournament together.”
