Wynne Construction is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our Commercial team, based at our Head Office in Bodelwyddan, North Wales. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in securing new projects by managing the tender process and producing accurate, competitive cost estimates across a diverse range of construction schemes.

As an Estimator, you will manage the tender process for single-stage tenders, two-stage tenders, and framework agreements, working on projects ranging in value from £1m to £25m. You will work closely with Commercial Managers, Design Managers, and the wider pre-construction team to produce high-quality tender submissions that support the successful delivery of future projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and coordinating all aspects of the tender process from receipt of enquiry through to submission
  • Measuring and producing quantities from drawings and BIM models for incorporation into tender enquiries
  • Preparing clear and accurate quantity take-offs to support cost planning and pricing
  • Producing cost plans and competitive estimates for a range of procurement routes and contract types
  • Liaising with Commercial Managers, Design Managers, and other members of the pre-construction team      throughout the tender process
  • Preparing, coordinating, and compiling all tender documentation
  • Issuing subcontract and material enquiries and obtaining competitive quotations
  • Preparing detailed subcontractor and supplier comparisons to support tender adjudication
  • Presenting tender submissions to the Commercial Management Team during tender adjudication meetings
  • Attending mid-tender and post-tender meetings and interviews with clients where required
  • Preparing comprehensive handover documentation for Project Surveyors following successful tenders

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in an Estimator or similar commercial role within the construction industry
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working within a main contractor environment
  • Experience of Design and Build projects
  • Degree or HNC in Construction, Building, Surveying, or a related discipline an advantage
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively to deadlines

While not essential, the following are desirable:

  • Experience working on public sector projects and framework agreements
  • Knowledge of BIM processes and digital measurement software
  • Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body
  • Experience using ConQuest Estimating Software
