Wynne Construction has successfully completed works across 11 primary schools in Flintshire, all while achieving impressive environmental and community numbers.
The Denbighshire-based company conducted £7.1m worth of expansions and refurbishments at early years centres on school premises on behalf of Flintshire County Council.
The new educational facilities provide permanent on-site environments for children formerly supervised in temporary or shared classrooms and school halls.
Throughout the builds, Wynne Construction incorporated sustainable practices by using environmentally friendly structural insulated panel (SIPs) walls.
In addition, effective waste management processes saw 95 per cent of waste diverted from landfill, alongside the re-usage of materials to create planters for each development.
As part of Wynne Construction’s Futures Foundation programme, the projects also developed talent and offered career opportunities through 18 apprenticeships and four work experience placements.
Similarly, local communities benefitted, as Wynne Construction partnered with Holway Community Centre and Coleg Cambria students to complete £4,000 of refurbishments.
Wynne Construction project manager Mark Wilson said: “Thanks to our exceptional teamwork across the programme, we have achieved outstanding results.
“As well as delivering high-quality work, we pride ourselves on the impact beyond the finished facilities.
“This was evidenced with the projects safeguarding 426 construction jobs and reducing carbon emissions through hiring regional labour.
“In addition, we have supported Wales’ economy with 22 per cent of spend directed towards Flintshire businesses, and 57 per cent invested into Wales-based SME’s.”
Wynne Construction social value manager Alison Hourihane added: “We are always committed to leaving a lasting legacy, so it’s fantastic to give back to the community through schemes like this.
“The opportunity to involve students in such a meaningful programme has also been brilliant, as our apprentices gained more than 225 weeks of hands-on experience.
“Likewise, our delivery of 539 training weeks really demonstrates our commitment to inspiring the next generation to enter the world of construction.”
Holway community councillor Paul Johnson said: “Wynne Construction and the team from Coleg Cambria have done great work, and I know the new facilities are going to be embraced by the residents.”
